Before we dive in, I wanted to chat a little bit about this outfit! It’s the perfect transitional outfit — can you believe fall is around the corner? My favorite way to transition a classic summer outfit into fall is by swapping out denim cutoffs for skinny jeans, throwing on a pair of booties, while also still styling a lightweight top to make the outfit breezy for those warmer days that aren’t *quite* considered fall.

Another great way to make an outfit extra special is by adding dainty gold rings, along with layering necklaces.  One of my fave brands to do this with is Gorjana {if you couldn’t tell} — in my opinion, they have the best high quality dainty gold jewelry without it being crazy expensive {like 24k gold plated expensive}.  Shashi is also another great brand for layering jewelry too!

This past weekend was an interesting one! I took a little technology break from my phone and computer, and let me tell ya, it was refreshing! For some reason, I just didn’t *feel* like getting on my phone.  I’m naturally a pretty type A person, and considering that social media is my job, it’s a little out of character for me.  However, it was SO refreshing that I’m going to start incorporating more days where I unplug from technology!

5 Reasons to Unplug from Technology for the Weekend

1) More Relaxation

It was so nice to just relax without my phone.  I feel like whenever I get free time, I’m opening my phone and checking social media or my emails.  It felt like a burden had been lifted! I lounged around and was able to actually ‘turn off’ my mind.  It also helped with my sleep.  I found myself quicker to fall asleep and more relaxed, and I didn’t even have to bust out my blue light blocking glasses either.

2) More Time

Without a doubt, putting your phone away allows more time in general, but also more time with loved ones! I found myself talking to people more, i.e. engaging more with my sister and mom while we were by the pool, instead of being glued to my phone.  I even started a new book! If you’ve been following for awhile, you know I LOVE to read.  However, it seems like I’ve been finding less and less time to read.  Putting away my phone allowed me to engage in some hobbies that I haven’t had time to engage in!

3) No FOMO Here

Y’all. FOMO is real.  I’ve experienced it.  You’ve experienced it.  Everyone has probably experienced it at least a few times in their life, usually caused by social media.  The funny part? Social media is not an accurate representation of life “in the moment” so it’s ironic that it causes such FOMO for us.  No phone, no FOMO, no problem.

4) Live In the Moment

I was able to live more in the moment, which is hard to do for me.  My mind is always going.  On Friday, I have anxiety for Sunday, because I think of all of the things that need to get done before Monday comes — and the weekend hasn’t even hit yet.  I’m always thinking three steps ahead, and while sometimes that can be beneficial, when it comes to life — it’s not healthy.  I noticed that unplugging for the weekend allowed me to truly be present, which helped with my type A antics.

5) Brings You Closer to Family and Friends

We had such a fun-filled weekend with family and friends.  I usually document every second of it, one of the many ‘duties’ of an influencer.  Y’all know exactly where I am, what I’m drinking, what I’m eating, who I’m with, what I plan on doing — you get the gist. As much as I’d like to say that it doesn’t affect my relationships, it can get annoying to constantly pull out your phone.  I sometimes miss out on conversations because I *have* to get a post up, etc. Being technology-free brought me closer to my family and friends because I was *truly* present with them.  I remember getting home from drinks with friends on Friday and being like “Gosh, wow, I love them, they’re so great, I’m so thankful” because I was able to have meaningful conversations without the distraction of a phone.

The result of this ‘unplugged’ weekend? Jordan and I now try to power down at least once a day during the week, usually in the evening!

Have you ever unplugged for the weekend? How did it make you feel?
