Wedding Etiquette

I don’t know about y’all, but it seems that there has been wedding after wedding this summer.  I thought that most wedding do’s and don’ts for guests are common knowledge, but from what I’ve seen,  they’re not.  Here’s a list of basic do’s and don’ts according to moi:
          • DO RSVP.  Seriously, it’s not that hard.
          • DO send a gift regardless of attendance.  You were invited for a reason.  Show ’em some love.
          • DO get the gift shipped to the bride/groom’s address if possible.  My boyfriend didn’t know this one and decided to wrap a massive toaster oven and drag the wrapped gift around for a week.  He’s a guy though, so he’s allowed to make mistakes like that, I guess.
          • DO stay silent during the ceremony.  Don’t chat up a storm.
          • DO dress nicely.  Usually you can get the feel of how fancy the wedding is by the invitation, but it’s better to be overdressed than underdressed (and that’s not just for weddings).
          • DON’T bring a guest when you don’t have a +1.
          • DON’T post photos of the bride on social networking until the professional photos come out.
          • DON’T wear white.  You’re not the bride…so don’t wear white…or cream…or ivory.  I thought this was a rule that every girl knew after coming out of the womb.
          • DON’T leave your phone on during the ceremony.  Way to ruin the moment as the bride walks down the aisle with your barking cell phone ring.

What are your typical do’s and don’ts when attending a wedding?

These are great tips! Although I didn't mind that people posted photos from my wedding. The professional photos take a while so it was nice to have photos right away!

  2. As someone who doesn't go to many weddings, a couple of these are very eye opening. The social media one is FANTASTIC. I think that's such an easy trap to fall into, but it's her day, so she should be able to filter it her way.

Awesome tips. I need to read up on your blog more to learn how to not embarrass myself in social situations.

  3. Rachel Lynne says:

These are great rules to go by! And please forgive your bf… I also did not know this and used to drag around heavy presents a week or two before the wedding!

  4. Megan says:

I didn't know it was a faux pas to post photos of the bride on social networking sites before the professional ones went up – but that makes total sense! On my wedding day tons of people were putting pics on Facebook, and I didn't mind, but it would have been nice to have the 'nice' ones go up first 😀

I am actually attending two weddings this summer so this post has been perfectly timed! Thank you for sharing your tips, they seem spot-on. You have such a lovely blog!

So many amazing tips, I agree with so many of them! Not RSVPing has to be one of the most rude things you could do after being invited to such an important day. Dressing nicely is one of my biggest pet peeves at weddings, I really don't understand how people can show up in regular clothing when the wedding clearly has a semi formal dress code. Finally, I love your point about posting photos on social media; we asked our guests prior to our wedding not to share photos from our wedding on social media. My husband isn't the biggest facebook user and there was something about people I didn't know seeing photos of my wedding, which is a really special and private day for me and our friends and family.

My sister is getting married later this year and I know she HATES half my relatives for bringing a +1 that we don't even know. Like, really, is it that hard for you to leave your boyfriend/girlfriend home? the couple has a tight budget, and they shouldn't have to pay another 50 bucks per plate to feed people they don't know/ didn't invite.

    Great tips!

10/27/18 Mr. & Mrs. White

There’s not a day that goes by when I don’t feel so blessed to be Jordan’s wife. He is my everything. These photos and video are the sweetest reminder of our love for one another. So, grab a cup of coffee, pull up a seat, and try not to bawl your eyes out (because I know we did). Every time we look through our photos and watch our video, we cry the happiest tears.

The Proposal

It’s crazy what can happen in a year. I met the love of my life and the rest is history. I was having a hard time ending this post, because frankly, I think I could talk about that evening forever. Then I realized that this post doesn’t have an ending, but instead, a beginning. Thank you so much for all of the love, excitement, and gratitude.

Dark Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

One of my favorite things to do in the fall is bake my dark chocolate chip pumpkin bread! I’ve made it *so* many times for me, J, and friends & family. It’s moist, decadent, and super easy to make! It also makes for a great DIY housewarming gift.
